BYU Had To Win To Be Closer To The CFP

The No. 9 Cougars easiest path to the College Football Playoff hinged on winning at rival Utah in the Holy War. They escaped 22-21 on a walkoff FG from Will Ferrin.

No. 4/9 BYU now has a 2-in-3 chance at a slot in the College Football Playoff with their Holy War win but several teams ahead of the Cougars faltered:

  • No. 3/4 Miami lost at a mid Ga Tech, 28-23

  • No. 2/3 Georgia lost at Jaxson Dart’s No. 16 Ole Miss, 28-10

  • No. 5 Texas still doesn’t have a marquee win, neither does No. 6 Penn State

  • No. 12 Boise State rode RB Ashton Jeanty, eked out narrow win vs Nevada?!

  • The table is already being set by ESPN heads for an SMU rebirth—at No. 13

  • The CFP Committee ranked BYU No. 9 this past Tuesday, will it improve?

Thanks to all who helped pay for my LDN [low-dose naltrexone] for pain relief for the nerve damage in my legs caused by my disease [IYKYK]. Next step: portable concentrated oxygen that my insurance also won't cover and the means for a 2-week vacay at sea level [long story; the doc says it helps with my oxygen]. Finally, a Segway to maneuver around at life events. If you'd like to help me hit those goals, I’d appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.
