This Just In: to the BVU newsroom. Shaquille O’Neal does NOT think Rudy Gobert should be worrying at all about fans who boo the former Jazz center.
BREAKING NEWS: You can’t compare the two players because Rudy Gobert and Shaq played in two different eras, added Jazz Superfan Steve Hatch, who first met Shaq during Hatch’s church mission to San Antonio—the hometown of the Diesel.
“Ummmm, Shaq is opinionated and I love the dude but the game is just played way differently,” said Hatch, who’s kept in contact with the Diesel ever since. “It would be like Yao hitting 3s constantly.”
It would also be like comparing Future to Shaq in rapping, or Kazaam to Space Jam 2—it’s unfair, in any case. [Okay, maybe not in the case of Space Jam 2.]
What also isn’t fair is watching Rudy Gobert swat an opponent’s shot into another dimension!
Gobert had 16 points and 20 rebounds—still well off the 26 and 9 the Diesel averaged during his NBA career but you can see the Frenchman heading in that direction. [He’s currently averaging 13 points, 12 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, down by 2 points, a rebound and about 0.5 blocks from his Jazz numbers.]
ICYMI: Rudy’s Comin To Town on Friday night, and so I’m continuing an entire week of interviews to mark the big occasion!
Steve Hatch from Hatch Family Chocolates [TLC’s Little Chocolatiers] is back to talk about more things Rudy—and a few things about the Utah Jazz since he’s a super fan.
In this episode:
Hatch talks about Shaq being Steve’s bodyguard while he was on his mission!
Hatch talks about beat writers and a radio DJ poking fun at him! [The nerve!]
Hatch sets the record straight on social media!
Hatch talks more about Rudy and dunks on Shaq! [Albeit nicely.]
Hatch talks about needing a ticket to Friday’s game!
Why you should show more empathy toward int’l players like Rudy
